Guide - Russell Osborne
Russell Osborne has been associated with Explore the Outback
camel safaris since 2003 when he joined the annual wild camel training
forum to obtain his first two camels, Neddy and Taggles.
Russell, or Rus as we all know him, is the consumate professional
in tour guiding and his committment to clients and camels is immediately
obvious.
Rus is a trained teacher and professional tour guide with a great
deal of respect within the industry, particularly in his Northern
Territory homeland. He has a background of indigenous education
and a superb track record of leading 4WD tours into remote and fascinating
corners of our outback wilderness.
Rus is a doer. He has a dream to walk his six camels across the
arid heart of Australia in support of the Children
First Foundation with his partner Ros Consoli in 2008. This
dream is well on the road to commencement and his journey will be
difficult with many obstacles along the way. He has chosen a route
that has never been attempted before and that in itself will test
his tenacity beyond anything this commercial operation can throw
at him - but we'll try. Explore the Outback is very pleased
to play a small part of Rus's life adventure and we wish him every
success. That magnificent and benevolent woman (Moira Kelly) at
Children First Foundation will not find better and more committed
supporters than Russell Osborne and Ros Consoli.
Rus is also a competent camelman. He has the patience, understanding
and empathy to become a great camelman and this will be immediately
obvious when you watch him working with the animals. Even the most
timid of camels display a level of trust in him that few other handlers
could ever hope to receive. This in particular is a quality that
we look for in our handlers and Rus is oozing with it.
We are very pleased to have happy-go-lucky Rus on board
and in short time you will understand why.
Now that's great camel trekking.
